Douma, a picturesque Lebanese village, has been honored with a spot on the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) 2023 Best Tourism Villages list.
The UNWTO accolade celebrates villages that excel in preserving landscapes, cultural diversity, and local traditions.
Douma stood out among 54 villages selected from nearly 260 applications worldwide. The village was evaluated on nine key aspects, including cultural resources, economic sustainability, and governance.
Located in Batroun District, Douma is renowned for its peaceful ambiance, historic souk, and churches built on ancient pagan temples.
The village also offers a rich tapestry of cultural activities, especially during the summer.
