Yesterday, the Lebanese singer Elissa released a song titled “Ila Kol Elli Bihebbouni” (For All Those Who Love Me) in which she revealed that she had breast cancer.
Elissa’s name topped Lebanon’s Twitter trend list yesterday, and her fans and fellow artists showed great support to her. The video gathered over 3 million views on YouTube.
The music video documents her journey with breast cancer, treatments, and radiotherapy. It shows both the physical and psychological struggles that Elissa went through. She was diagnosed with breast cancer on December 26, 2017.
The video contains snapshots of her treatment and the clip of her fall on stage during her concert in Dubai earlier this year.
It also includes actual recordings the singer sent to Angy, the director of the music video, in which she shared her deepest fears.
“You know that moment when you wonder… Will I ever see the people I love and those who love me again? Is there a moment when it’s all over? When I won’t exist tomorrow?”
“And you know what the doctor said when I told him “Dr. I am dying from pain?” He looked at me and said: “Have you lost your mind? Until now you haven’t realized that what you have is a deadly illness and you’re living as if you have the flu.”
Elissa was juggling between her treatment and her career. She would finish a session, rest for two hours, and immediately head to the studio. She was also going live on TV once a week.
The singer expresses her love to her fans and her loved ones. She calls on people to “enjoy life, as every minute that passes will not come again.”
The message at the end of her video raises awareness about the importance of early detection.
