Embrace Lebanon’s lifeline is back online, two weeks after it first went out of service.
Embrace, which operates the national suicide-prevention hotline in Lebanon, announced the return of the 1564 lifeline on Friday morning.
“The Lifeline is back! We are doing our utmost best to be by your side and resolve any possible technical matters or interruptions that might occur and may be out of our control.
Our operators are ready to listen from 8:30 AM till 5:30 AM,” the NGO said in a statement.”
Embrace had announced on Friday, August 13th that its lifeline had gone out of service due to the total loss of electricity and diesel fuel, amid nationwide blackouts and a severe shortage of fuel.
As the compounding crises continue to impact the lives of the Lebanese, the demand for Embrace’s mental health services has been growing.
According to numbers shared recently by the Beirut-based NGO, 1,063 calls were received via the 1564 lifeline in June, during which 1,897 hours of volunteering by Embrace’s hopemakers were registered.
In total, 704 free mental health consultations were provided through Embrace’s mental health center (EMHC) in the same month.
