The European Union (EU) welcomed the announcement of the agreement after negotiations between Lebanon and Israel regarding the delineation of their maritime borders.
The EU commended the constructive spirit of both parties in this task as well as the role played by the United States.
It pointed out that the agreement reached by the two parties constitutes an important achievement, and its implementation will contribute to their stability and prosperity, as well as to the stability and prosperity of the region.
“We encourage the parties to continue their constructive work, the European Union remains ready to continue developing its partnerships with Lebanon and Israel and to support efforts to achieve regional cooperation for the benefit of all,” the EU concluded.
