I remember first watching this video years ago and I just came across it again. Unfortunately, it’s still extremely relevant. It’s quite the eye-opener and aims to unite Lebanon as a Lebanese people and not as their religious sect.
Unfortunately, many people first identify themselves by their religious sect before identifying themselves as Lebanese. Everywhere in the world, people identify themselves by their country. Saying their religious or political affiliation would seem irrelevant.
Now, I’m not trying to say your religion is irrelevant – my religious affiliation is important to me. But if we want to start taking steps towards uniting Lebanon then we must start seeing ourselves as Lebanese before anything else.
Lebanese before being Sunni, Shia, Maronite, Druze, Aouni, Mustaqbal, Kataeb, Ouwet, and so on. The moment we can see ourselves and each other as Lebanese is the moment we can start working together to progress and fix Lebanon.
