Some media outlets have claimed that Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace in Lebanon will shut down due to the economic situation as well as the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Claim: Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace in Lebanon will shut down at the end of July and until further notice.
Verdict: False. The hotel denied the claims.
Context:
News spread around that the hotels, which are two of the most popular and important hotels in Lebanon, will shut their doors.
There were no official statements from the hotels, both owned by the same Emirati businessman, not on the official website nor on the social media pages.
The961 got in touch with one of the hotels, and they confirmed that the circulating news is fake.
They stressed that everything related to their hotels and that doesn’t come directly from the management is deemed false news. If such a decision was to be taken (hopefully not), the management will be the first to announce it.
As for now, when so much seem to be gone and lost, we are glad to hold on to all of the businesses and institutions that make Lebanon great.
