FIBA Shared A Video Of Lebanon’s Legendary Win Over One Of Europe’s Giants In 2006

The excitement over the latest remarkable performance of Lebanon’s National Basketball team has also taken over FIBA and not only the Lebanese.

FIBA’s official account on Instagram went on to share a video recalling Lebanon’s legendary win over France (74-73) in the FIBA World Championship in 2006.

Shared with 1.5 million followers, the video showcased how The Cedars took one of Europe’s giants. This win was also Lebanon’s first-ever world cup victory.

In recent times, Lebanon’s National Basketball Team has been representing their country with all its glory in regional and international basketball championships.

The most recent victory took place during the FIBA Asia Cup 2022, boosting the Lebanese people’s spirits and sense of patriotism, and bringing international exposure to the country’s team.

The Cedars, who finished as 1st Runner-up during the championship, also saw the captain of the team, Wael Arakji, recognized as MVP of the FIBA Asia Cup.

The Lebanese National Basketball Team is now preparing for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers, Window 4, as The Cedars will face the Philippines, on Thursday, August 25, at Nouhad Naufal Stadium, at 9:00 pm.
