Rana Eid, the Lebanese sound designer and filmmaker, joins Wang Bing and Susanne Schüle on the jury panel of the annual prestigious event Berlin Film Festival 2022 for the Berlinale Documentary Award.
Many documentaries will be competing for that award, including 18 documentary forms from around the world.
The 72nd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) is going to take place physically and in-person in Berlin, Germany from February 10th and will continue until February 20th.
Rana Eid was born in 1976 holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Cinema (1999) and a Master’s Degree in Film Sound (2002) from the Université Saint Joseph (USJ).
Her works include collaborations with major and well-known filmmakers. She also worked on two Oscar-nominated films: The Cave (2019) and Honeyland (2019).
Her most recent works include sound design for You Will Die at 20 (2019), Costa Brava, Lebanon (2021), The Alleys (2021), The Sea Ahead (2021), and Memory Box (2021).
As a filmmaker, she directed many movies, including her first feature documentary Panoptic (2017), which was awarded Best Lebanese Documentary at the Lebanese Movie Awards in 2019 and Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival also in 2019.
Her DB Studios Beirut, which she founded in 2006, eventually led to a partnership with the French company “Hal Audio” in 2017.
