Al-Saham newspaper published an article yesterday claiming that flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Beirut Airport have stopped. This sparked panic as the unfounded news spread across social media.
While the Emirati Embassy in Lebanon wasn’t reachable, the Lebanese Embassy in UAE confirmed to 961News that flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Beirut airport are operating normally.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Emirates had recalled its diplomatic mission from Lebanon, as well as its citizens over the past weekend.
The Emirati Foreign Ministry said that this is “because of the current security and political conditions in Lebanon and in conjunction with the UAE’s decisions regarding the withdrawal of diplomats and administrators from Lebanon and the prohibition of its citizens from traveling to it.”
The Lebanon-Gulf political crisis began following statements made by the Lebanese Minister of Information, George Kordahi, about the Saudi-led war on Yemen.
