To follow up on the recent forest fires occurring across Lebanon, the Caretaker Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abbas Hajj Hassan, visited the town of Sejoud, in the southern region of Jabal Al Rihan.

In a statement, he confirmed that the ministry is following up on all fires breaking out across the country and it is working to control them to limit the losses and protect the environmental wealth.

He reiterated his warning for all the citizens to take safe environmental measures and not throw anything that might lead to a fire as a result of the heat waves.

He also revealed that the area around Sejoud, that was affected by the fires, exceeds 200 dunums, which is considered a very huge loss, noting that work must be done to start reforestation.

He added that it is necessary to develop water supply networks in forests, which may help to control fires and provide important logistical support for firefighters.

The Caretaker Minister of Environment, Nasser Yassin, uploaded recently a campaign video on the preventative measures and steps people can take to reduce the risks of forest fires.
