Lights, camera, Carlos Ghosn! The heat that the remarkable escape story of the Lebanese businessman-turned-international-fugitive generated back in December has not died out, yet.
And this heat has now reached the show biz; Carlos Ghosn is now working with a prominent Hollywood agent.
The former boss of Nissan has begun working with the legendary agent Michael Ovitz, who will assist the millionaire in the process of closing deals with movie studios that might be eager to transform his story into TV production.
Since pulling off his mindboggling escape from the Japanese judicial system and departing from one of Japan’s international airports, it’s become rife that movie and TV producers and studios have been contending to bring the intriguing story to the big screen.
It is THE escape of the century; no one wants to miss that opportunity.
The most recent reports of this famous story include the alleged collaboration of ex-special forces soldiers and high-level government collusions; in other words, raw movie material.
As per these reports, Ghosn was extracted from Japan, hidden in a packing crate aboard a private jet, with the help of a former Green Beret. (We can already visualize that in a thrilling movie).
What followed was his shocking appearance – seemingly out of nowhere – at the Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport, in “one of the most fascinating business capers in modern history.”
Michael Ovitz, Ghosn’s new agent, is one of the most renowned agents working in the American entertainment industry, in which he’s been a leading figure since the 1970s.
He is the co-founder of the powerful Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and former President of The Walt Disney Company.
Reportedly, a spokesperson of the former Nissan Chairman said that Ovitz will help in discussing and evaluating possible proposals. No projects involving Ghosn have been confirmed to be active yet, however.
If Carlos Ghosn does seal the deal with a giant entertainment company the likes of Netflix, for example, he could make a substantial sum of money (not that he needs it, or does he now?)
Notably, Ghosn had lost a whopping $14m in bail money in his long judicial battle with Japanese authorities. Did that empty his bank accounts?
We do want to believe that the genius who schemed and achieved an impossible escape has more under his sleeves than we know.
A Hollywood-produced movie or miniseries documenting the tale behind his escape is something that many people would be more than willing to indulge in today – especially considering that many parts of the story remain relatively ambiguous.
