Four French warships made their way to Lebanon on Tuesday, March 24th. Based on a report by Al-Joumhouria, these ‘sophisticated’ French battleships are reportedly being ‘gifted’ to the Lebanese Army and will be joining the navy.
French ambassador, Bruno Fouche, allegedly ‘personally supervised the operation’. He boarded one of the ships which were delivered to Beirut from Toulon Naval Base in the south of France.
Well, that’s one alternative way to travel to Beirut in the time of COVID-19.
The gifts/warships arrived in Beirut this week.
It is common for big armies to donate their old fleet when they have a newer one, especially to their allies. Although, on a side note, fighter jets would be cooler.
