After doing the same at the Baabda Palace, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has left Ain El-Tineh without making any statement.
Following the conclusion of his nearly 30-minute meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Le Drian headed to Ain El-Tineh to meet Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri.
The meeting with Berri is Le Drian‘s second meeting of several that will reportedly follow on Thursday. According to Al-Jadeed, the official is set to meet with several political parties at the Pine Residence at 2 PM.
Le Drian‘s mission, which carries a firm message to Lebanese leaders, is to attempt to break the stalemate holding back government formation in Lebanon, in the latest effort by France to resolve the country’s prevailing political crisis.
A meeting with Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri is expected to take place on Thursday as well. The time of this meeting has yet to be known.
Hariri, who was appointed to form Lebanon’s next government back in October 2020, is now considering resigning.
