French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian concluded his meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun in Baabda on Thursday morning.
Le Drian‘s meeting with Aoun lasted for about half an hour, and the French official left the Presidential Palace without making any statements to the press.
The French Foreign Minister arrived in Beirut in the early hours of Thursday, with a “firm message” that he had mentioned in a tweet before leaving his country.
Although not much is known about the details of his visit, it is widely expected to define the future path of the French initiative that was born last year.
Days prior to the visit, France has announced that it would be imposing travel bans on politicians suspected of corruption and blocking the formation of a new government in Lebanon.
