Lebanese Forces (LF) MP Antoine Zahra revealed Tuesday that Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) leader Gebran Bassil has asked to meet LF leader Samir Geagea.
“I think that Bassil has equivocally asked to meet with Geagea to discuss the presidential file, and Geagea has refused,” Zahra said.
He added that although the LF party is against electing the Marada leader Suleiman Franjieh as President, it still prefers him over Bassil.
“But luckily, Bassil has no luck,” Zahra said. “And we will not meet with him.”
Geagea has been active in the past weeks, stating many positions concerning the presidential elections and the president his party prefers.
Geagea refusing to meet with Bassil was expected as he is clear in opposing the election Of Hezbollah-FPM President: “We will oppose with all our strength the election of a President from the March 8 Alliance.”
