Geagea Wants A President That Will Challenge Hezbollah And FPM

Lebanese Forces (LF) leader Samir Geagea said that the next president must be “confrontational.”

“We want a confrontational president,” he issued in a press conference, adding that recovery can not be achieved without a president who would challenge the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) and Hezbollah.

He said that he opposes any understanding with the Axis of Defiance and that he does not agree with his “friend” Walid Jumblat, the leader of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP), who considered communication with Hezbollah essential.

“We do not agree with his approach regarding the Presidency,” Geagea stated, adding that “Jumblat is not and has never been in the bosom of Hezbollah or any other party.”

Geagea went on to say that the MPs or parties that will prevent the opposition from electing a new sovereign president would be traitors as they would be contributing to keeping things “as they are today.”

Geagea has earlier said that the next President should be sovereign and reformist, adding, “We will oppose with all our strength the election of a President from the March 8 Alliance.”
