Another highly controversial figure in the Beirut Blast investigation, Ghazi Zaiter, was now reelected as a minister in the Lebanese parliament.

Ghazi Zaiter is an Amal movement partisan who served as Minister of Defense, Agriculture, Public Works, Industry, and Social Affairs in the Lebanese parliament.

In this electoral race, Zaiter ran in the Amal-Hezbollah list “Hope and Loyalty” for the Bekaa III (Baalbek – Hermel).

The suspect list in the Beirut port explosion included names from the former parliaments such as former PM Hassan Diab, former Minister Youssef Finianos, former Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk, and the newly reelected ministers Ghazi Zaiter and Ali Hassan Khalil.

The newly reelected ministers Ghazi Zaaiter and Ali Hassan Khalil were charged back in July 2021 by initial investigative judge Fadi Sawan.
