Upon his return from his Hajj rituals in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, stressed that forming a government cannot wait any longer, especially since the collapse pervades state institutions.
He considered the birth of a new cabinet as the real entry point for electing a new president afterward.
“The disruption in forming the cabinet may be a prelude to obstructing the election of a president, and here the great disaster falls.” Mufti Derian stressed.
He also commented on the Jeddah summit, stating that it “strengthened Arab solidarity and integration, and laid down a road map that would establish a new phase of joint Arab action on the international scene, to face the challenges in the region.”
