An individual attempted to throw a hand grenade at a crowded gas station in Lebanon on Saturday afternoon.
The gas station, in the village of Meiss El-Jabal, southern Lebanon, had about 300 people standing in its perimeter when the incident took place, according to the National News Agency.
The man was stopped from throwing the grenade just in time to prevent a catastrophe.
The Lebanese Army and security forces immediately rushed to the scene following the incident to restore stability.
Gatherings at gas stations have become a daily occurrence due to the economic crisis and the accompanying nationwide shortage of fuel.
These gatherings, which often lead to fights and, in several instances, gunfire, pose a serious security threat.
Last month, dozens of people were killed in a horrific explosion of a fuel tank in Akkar, northern Lebanon.
The cause of the explosion, according to the most recent information published by a local probe, was the flame of a lighter.
