Lebanon Still Holds The Guinness Record For The World’s Longest Sandwich

@GWR

Lebanon is the holder of many Guinness World Records. While some countries have tried to beat our records, we still hold the record for the world’s longest sandwich ever made.

The sandwich was 735 meters-long (2,411 ft 5 in) and was created on May 22nd, 2011, in Beirut’s Hazmieh region. According to the Guinness World Records, the sandwich was 12.5 cm wide and weighed 577.03 kg.

Fun fact: four movable ovens had to be created in order to bake one continuous piece of bread.

For those interested, it was a chicken sandwich! It had chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayonnaise, red vinegar, salt, mustard, white pepper, lemon juice, and spices.

It was created by the NGO Scouts de l’Indépendance – Groupe Notre Dame Hazmieh, the Municipality of Hazmieh, and with the help of the Lebanese restaurant chain Mini-B.

Hundreds of people took part in the preparation, cooking, and assembling the sandwich. Finally, it took 22 hours to make!

It was certainly worth it. Almost 10 years later, and no one has managed to beat the record.
