The President of the Lebanese Football Federation, engineer Hachem Haidar, won the Vice-Presidency of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the West Asian region by acclamation.
Haidar previously served as a member of the AFC after the elections in 2015 in Bahrain.
He became the first Lebanese to assume such a leading role in football, although he previously occupied a position on an important committee in the International Federation of Association Football “FIFA”.
The Lebanese engineer was elected president of the Lebanese Federation in 2021. During his tenure, the Lebanese national team was able to play the decisive role in the Asian qualifiers for the 2014 Brazil and Qatar 2022 World Cups in an unprecedented achievement.
