On Monday, Syria lost its longtime foreign minister and one of its most prominent diplomatic and political figures, Walid Al-Muallem.
Notably, the veteran diplomat was the subject of one of Michel Hayek’s 2020 predictions, which he read out during his December 2019 MTV appearance.
“I’m seeing Walid Al-Muallem on a big mission that is probably his last,” the popular clairvoyant said.
The prediction attracted attention after Syria’s Prime and Foreign Ministries announced, “with great sadness and sorrow,” Al-Muallem’s passing, in the early hours of Monday.
Al-Muallem, who was 79 years old at the time of his death, was suffering from health issues, and had coronary artery bypass surgery at the American University of Beirut Medical Center in 2014.
He became Syria’s foreign minister in 2006, then its deputy prime minister in 2012 while retaining his old position.
Notably, he was personally targeted by international sanctions for several reasons, including the suppression of the protests that started in Syria in 2011, before the eruption of its civil war.
In light of Al-Muallem’s death, Lebanese President Michel Aoun expressed his condolences to his Syrian counterpart, Bashar Al-Assad, praising the late official’s role inside and outside Syria.
Aoun also hoped for the return of peace to Syria, “so that the brotherly Syrian people may once again enjoy the prosperity they deserve.”
Michel Hayek’s prediction about Walid Al-Muallem is the latest to seem to materialize in 2020 of many that became viral throughout the year, including his prediction about the pandemic and, more recently, his prediction about the US presidential election.
