Born in 1965, Dr. Hector Hajjar has a doctorate in Dentistry from the Lebanese University and a license in Social Activism from Saint Joseph University and works as a dentist.
He is the president and general manager of the NGO Message de Paix, founded in 1997 to assist adults with mental disabilities through specialized programs.
The NGO, which operates under the guidance of the Maronite Bishop Guy Paul Noujaim, provides training and integration as well as assisting in the employment of adults with mental disabilities.
Dr. Hajjar has also worked with Caritas and founded the NGOs Christian Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders, the Community of the Missionary Brothers, and the association Prevention, Accompaniment, and Development (P.A.D).
According to some local news, Hector Hajjar is a member of the Free Patriotic Movement of Lebanon’s President Michel Aoun, which is headed by Gebran Bassil. However, Hajjar has denied it, stating that he has no political commitment.
Hector Hajjar was nominated by President Michel Aoun himself as the new Minister of Social Affairs in the newly-formed government.
