Human Rights Watch (HRW) has categorically labeled the Israeli military’s strikes on journalists in Lebanon on October 13, 2023, as potential war crimes.
The attack, which resulted in the death of Reuters journalist Issam Abdullah and injuries to six others, occurred in southern Lebanon. HRW’s investigation suggests these strikes were not accidental but deliberate attacks on civilians, thus constituting a war crime.
The organization emphasizes that evidence points to the Israeli military’s awareness of targeting civilians.
HRW calls for immediate action from Israel’s major allies—the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Germany—to halt military support to Israel in light of these allegations.
