Iraq Will Provide Lebanon With Fuel And Wheat

Annahar | Middle East Monitor

In July of 2021, Iraq signed an agreement with Lebanon to supply it with one million tonnes of Iraqi fuel.

This agreement, however, is set to expire soon and leave Lebanon with little to no fuel supply. Should this happen, Lebanon will plunge into severe darkness.

Recently, however, the General Director of the General Security, Abbas Ibrahim, revealed that he made a visit to Iraq to negotiate the extension of this deal.

In his statement, Ibrahim added that the Iraqi government not only agreed to renew the deal but to also increase the supply to two million tonnes.

He further added that he requested flour from the Iraqi government. He was informed, however, that Iraq has no supply of flour and promised to provide Lebanon with wheat instead.
