The Israeli military has stated that it identified preparations overnight within Hezbollah’s rocket arsenal, which it believes were intended for a major attack. As a result, Israeli fighter jets targeted specific sites in southern Lebanon that were allegedly poised to be used in this attack.
The IDF suggests that this potential attack could have been part of Hezbollah’s retaliation for the killing of Fuad Shukr, a senior military commander of the group, last month. Israel is preparing for possible drone or missile strikes.
Sirens have been reported sounding in various parts of Israel, including the Western Galilee and Mount Meron areas, indicating incoming rockets and suspected drone activity. Social media footage has also shown numerous Iron Dome interceptors being launched to counter rockets.
Residents in Israel’s north have been instructed to remain near shelters. Meanwhile, Ben Gurion Airport has delayed departures and redirected incoming flights to other airports for the next few hours.
Update: Hezbollah just issued a statement that it has begun its retaliation to Israel’s killing of Fouad Shoukr.
