The Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations filed an official complaint against Lebanon to the Security Council late on Friday regarding the rapid developments on the border with Lebanon.
In the letter, the permanent representative of Israel to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, accused Lebanon of having full responsibility for the dangerous development of events on the border with Israel in its Northern territories.
The ambassador also told the council in Washington, D.C. that the Lebanese government is primarily responsible for what is happening on its land.
He added that Hezbollah‘s attacks can lead to massive destruction of Lebanon and that the Security Council should condemn the attacks that Hezbollah carried out from South Lebanon.
This comes after Hezbollah targeted the vicinity of Israeli army positions in the Shebaa Farms with several missiles as a response to the Israeli attacks over Lebanon three days ago.
The Israeli military responded to that by firing heavy artillery shells towards the missiles launch site and launching airstrikes on Lebanon. This raised immediate concerns about a possible war between Lebanon and Israel as this Hezbollah‘s attack was the biggest since the 2006 war between the two sides.
Several countries like Germany, France, and the United States have already condemned the attacks while organizations like the Islamic Jihad Movement, Hamas, and Ansar Allah have praised the Hezbollah move.
