In a striking declaration, Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant asserted that Israel will compel Hezbollah to retreat beyond the Litani River in southern Lebanon.
This determination was voiced during a meeting with leaders of Israeli communities close to the Lebanese border. Gallant outlined that such a move could be realized either through global political agreements or, if essential, by military intervention.
Israel’s statement aims to shed light on UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which mandates a complete halt to hostilities and Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
