An Israeli reserve soldier, Staff Sgt. (res.) Omer Balva was killed in an anti-tank missile attack along the Lebanon-Israel border. In retaliation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) targeted Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon.
Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Hezbollah has actively joined the fighting and is “paying a heavy price” for its actions.
The skirmishes have escalated fears of a new front opening as Israel continues its conflict with Hamas in Gaza. Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the missile attacks and gunfire.
