The Lebanese Army Command has issued a statement stating that on Wednesday an Israeli Navy gunboat violated Lebanese territorial waters off Ras al-Naqoura.

The enemy gunboat infiltrated about 370 meters into Lebanese waters and shot at Lebanese fishing boats and fired flares in the area.

It is unclear why they attacked fishing boats, however, the violation is being pursued in coordination with the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL), reported NNA.

Simultaneously, there is a strong Israeli presence in the air above Lebanon. There have been increasing reports of Israeli aircraft flying at low altitudes above major Lebanese cities.

With that being said, both Lebanon and Israel have been struggling with the maritime border negotiations.

In fact, the talks have temporarily come to a halt amid rising tensions. There have even been attempts to move the negotiation site abroad.
