An Israeli military spokesperson has issued a warning to Lebanon regarding the recent events taking place at the southern Lebanese border.
In a tweet on Saturday, Avichay Adraee, the head of the Israeli military’s Arab media division, stated that Israeli forces are “ready in the area and will act with determination to protect Israel‘s sovereignty.”
“Lebanon bears responsibility for what is happening inside Lebanon and launches from it, and it will bear responsibility for any attempt to harm the citizens of Israel,” he added.
Adraee said that the Israeli military had foiled a day prior, what he called “a sabotage operation” near the security fence with Lebanon.
In light of that, “we turn to the Lebanese state with clear advice, which is to work to put an end to these attempts and prevent rioters from approaching the borders, warning against these attempts,” he said.
“We will not allow our citizens to be endangered or harmed in any way, as Israeli sovereignty is a red line,” Adraee concluded.
Israeli media had reported on Friday that Israeli forces had intercepted an infiltration attempt from southern Lebanon.
On Friday, protesters against the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinian people crossed the border in southern Lebanon on several occasions. The Israeli military responded by opening fire at the protesters, one of whom passed away later that day.
