A Turkish court convicted an executive from the Turkish jet company MNG along with two pilots for their role in helping former Nissan Motor Chairman Carlos Ghosn escape out of Japan and to Lebanon.
The three have been sentenced to four years and two months in prison.
According to their lawyer, they are not expected to serve time in prison since they have been detained for several months already.
The three defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Carlos Ghosn was arrested in Japan back in 2018 and was charged with allegedly falsifying his salary and using company funds for personal use. The former Nissan chairman escaped in December of 2019 through Istanbul to Lebanon.
