Municipality Of Jbeil Bans Use Of Plastic Bags

Jbeil is setting a powerful example for the municipalities in Lebanon! It is banning plastic bags to become more environmentally friendly.

The Municipality of Jbeil is asking the owners of establishments, shops, restaurants, and grocery stores to replace by the end of this year plastic bags with eco-friendly ones. These should be made of biodegradable material or recyclable fabric.

The main reason behind this initiative is the garbage crisis in Lebanon. The government still doesn’t have a plan to end this crisis.

The most sustainable method to get things back to normal is to recycle and use eco-friendly materials.

Starbucks, like many other restaurants and coffee shops, recently announced that it is planning to eliminate plastic straws from its stores by 2020. The straws will be replaced by sippy cups.

Other companies that are working to cut down their environmental footprints are Hyatt, American Airlines, Hilton Hotels, Alaska Airlines, Mariott International UK, Royal Caribbean, and SeaWorld Entertainment, and many more.
