Your Role
961 is looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Staff Writer to join our team. You’ll play a leading role in our written content and editorial operations in Lebanon and as we expand.
You must be passionate about storytelling and love Lebanon. Despite its issues, you believe it’s the best place on earth – and can convince others of that too.
You must be excited about covering everything from local stories and listicles to restaurants and events (check the end of this posting for examples – this is not for serious news content).
Your Outcomes
- Researching and writing original, timely, and shareable content that resonates with our Gen-Z and Millennial audiences
- Publish 5+ articles per day with their translations
- Ensure accuracy and maintain high-quality work while meeting ambitious goals
- Coordinate with the video team and account execs to collaborate on topics and branded content
- Work with interns who report to you and other team members
Your Qualifications
- Fluent in English and Arabic. French is a major plus.
- 2+ years of professional writing experience at a digital publisher creating engaging/shareable content.
- A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (preferred)
- Deep knowledge of what is happening and trending in Lebanon
- An obsession with content research, tight deadlines, and team brainstorming
- The ability to spot catchy, unique angles, and execute them quickly
- Knowledge of SEO best practices
- Creative eye (can formulate engaging headlines, creating eye-catching featured images).
Position
