Following the losses in trees that Lebanon has suffered from the wildfires’ breakouts, a Public Plantation Day across Lebanon is planned by the environmental organization Jouzour Loubnan on November 3rd. The aim is to plant more than 3500 trees to make up for the losses. Many organizations and initiatives are fully supporting the campaign, whether financially or physically with volunteers, or both. This large tree plantation endeavor will be undertaken on the first Sunday of November!
Among the supporting entities, ABC Lebanon is joining forces, donating 100,000,000 LBP (about $67,000) to Jouzour Loubnan to help with the reforestation and encourage a greener Lebanon with lands filled with trees. These are vital in that they produce oxygen and reduce the overall concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and for many generations to come.
“Our home is burning and our heart aches for all the sorrow that our country is going through. We are united in this fight, as we pray and hope to see better and greener days,” ABC wrote on their official page on Instagram.
Smaller initiatives have also expressed support with the plantation of the 3500 trees, with Halabi Bookshop selling bracelets designed by The Hanging Eye and having all funds donated to Jouzour Loubnan.
The Lebanese international fashion designer Zuhair Murad collaborated with Live Love Beirut in designing a custom-made Live Love bracelet to support the Lebanese Civil Defense and to help replant and reforest. Shipping is free Worldwide, except for Lebanon where you can pick up your bracelets form Beirut Digital District.
