On Monday, Lebanon received a report from French technical experts that would be helpful in the ongoing investigation into the Beirut explosion.
Received by investigative Judge Tarek Bitar, who replaced Judge Fadi Sawan, this new French report is “very important,” a judicial source told the Lebanese newspaper The Daily Star.
French experts had arrived in Beirut just days after the blast and spent weeks studying the site of the explosion. Their investigation is said to be more comprehensive than the FBI’s.
While the French investigation cannot provide satellite images, which were requested by Lebanon, it could introduce new information not known to local investigators 10 months after the blast took place.
Details about the French report were not disclosed, but Lebanon is expecting another report from France in the coming months.
