The Lebanese Forces Coordinator Pascal Sleiman was found dead in Syria, after being kidnapped near the village of Hakel yesterday around 3 PM.
The information provided to LBCI revealed that Sleiman’s body was discovered inside Syrian territory and the Lebanese military intelligence is working with the Lebanese Red Cross to retrieve the body.
The Army command provided an update on the situation, stating that the Army Intelligence Directorate has made significant progress in the case.
Through interrogation, it was uncovered that Sleiman was killed by the perpetrators during their attempt to steal his car in Jbeil. Subsequently, they transported his body to Syria.
Most of the Syrian gang members involved in the abduction have been arrested.
Efforts are underway to coordinate with Syrian authorities for the repatriation of Sleiman’s body.
This comes less than a year after a senior Lebanese Forces official was killed in South Lebanon. He went missing and was reported dead days later. The autopsy revealed Hasrouni was strangled and dealt a blow to the head and chest with a gun. The investigation hasn’t progressed since.
