Joined by their parents, hundreds of children took to the streets on Thursday to protest against dire living conditions amid a milk shortage and the quickly deteriorating economic conditions.
Under the slogan “Voice of Truth,” they marched the streets of Tripoli all the way to Abdel Hamid Karami Square (or Al-Nour Square) with Lebanese flags and banners.
This massive children’s protest comes amid a shortage in children’s milk, which is leaving parents distraught trying to find food to feed their babies and kids.
Earlier the same day, people north of Tripoli intercepted a truck carrying containers of milk and distributed it to passersby.
Similarly, and also in North Lebanon, a group of people hijacked a fuel tanker transporting gasoline and distributed gallons of gas to people nearby.
