A large gas station explosion tore through the silence of a village in eastern Lebanon on Friday night.

The explosion took place at a gas station in the village of Al-Marj, in the Beqaa Governorate. The station blew up after its fuel tanks caught fire, according to local reports.

After seeing the fire, locals rushed to the scene to attempt to extinguish its soaring flames, which could be seen from a distance.

One video of the incident, widely shared on social media, shows people gathering on a street a few blocks away as they observe the rising flames.

Other videos were recorded at the site of the explosion, where people had been trying to put out the fire with limited resources.

Lebanese Civil Defense teams later arrived at the scene from multiple stations and worked on extinguishing the fire.

The blaze was finally controlled and extinguished around midnight. As of the time of writing, no casualties have been reported from the incident.

This is the latest of several instances in which a gas station catches fire in Lebanon over the past month.

A little over two weeks ago, a gas station in northern Lebanon caught fire while a fuel truck was unloading, about two weeks after gunmen opened fire at a gas station in the southern suburbs of Beirut, causing it to go up in flames.
