Soon, Lebanon will be the home of the largest statue of Saint Charbel in the world. Today, it was getting transported from Haret Sakher to Faraya. Since it is very heavy (it weighs 40 tons), its transportation is a very delicate process. Since the roads are not in a good condition and there are many curvy roads to arrive in Faraya, the Internal Security provided a convoy to make sure the process goes as smoothly as possible. These are the dimensions of the sculpture:
- Height: 23 meters
- Width: 9.30 meters
The sculpture is made of fiberglass, which is a strong material, to make sure that it will not get affected by bad weather. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0-Ws5LoAGk In fact, the sculpture is not complete yet; the hands will get attached in Faraya. It is set to be completed and installed next week. On the 14
th
of September, which happens to be Feast of the Cross Day, a mass will be organized to sanctify the sculpture. Also, the famous Lebanese sculptor Naef Alwan sculpted this statue.
