The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) received three new Huey II helicopters worth $24 million from the United States of America (USA).
According to Lebanon’s US Ambassador Dorothy Shea, who met with LAF Brigadier General Ziad Haikal and Colonel Michel Saifi at the delivery ceremony on Friday, the brand-new helicopters symbolize the strength and closeness of the LAF and the US.
“The US is committed to pursuing additional ways that we can help the LAF continue its vital role in securing and protecting Lebanon, and we deeply appreciate the LAF’s role in advising us on your needs,” stated Shea.
The US Department of State recently approved an additional $210 million in foreign military aid for the LAF.
Ambassador Shea also stated that the US commends “the LAF’s dedication and hard work for the people of Lebanon, and they are proud to support them.”
