The name of the Lebanese army chief, General Joseph Aoun, has been circulating in the files of the presidential elections, with many expressing their support for his election.

However, Gen. Aoun expressed reluctance in that regard as he doesn’t want his name to circulate for Presidency, according to the Al-Joumhouria newspaper on Thursday.

The local media reported that Gen. Aoun is uncomfortable with the head of the Lebanese Forces Party (LF), Samir Geagea, supporting him as a Presidency candidate with his statements.

Gen. Aoun deems them to weaken his position.

This came after Geagea had many times voiced his support for the Army Commander as a possible presidential candidate.
