The Lebanese army command announced, via Twitter, the postponement of the mission to search for the sunken boat off the city of Tripoli, due to the high sea waves, which may threaten the safety of the submarine and its crew.
Equipped with modern communication technologies and advanced capabilities to work in the deep sea, the submarine had sailed earlier today and reached the exact spot where the boat sank off the coast of Tripoli, according to Colonel Haitham Al-Dinawi.
However, the unexpected threat of high waves just brought the operations to halt.
Tripoli MPs Ashraf Rifi and Elie Al-Khoury were present at the launch of the submarine today.
This operation comes four months after the tragic accident with bodies still lost in the sea to date, including women and children who were on the boat.
