In a post on their social media accounts, the Directorate General of Civil Defense in the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities issued a statement about further safety measures for New Year’s Eve (NYE) in order to ensure people’s safety.
All civil defense centers in Lebanon, including their staff and volunteers, have been instructed to stay fully prepared this week, especially during the NYE’s celebrations, to immediately intervene when required to meet the appeals of citizens.
This came by the directives of the Interior Minister, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, and following the memorandum issued by the Director-General of Civil Defense, Brig. Gen. Raymond Khattar.
Civil defense personnel has been mobilized in all centers across Lebanon. 60 outposts have been also set up along the Lebanese coast from Anfeh to Naqoura and in all the districts and mountainous areas that see heavy traffic on NYE.
The Directorate General of Civil Defense reminds citizens of the requirement to comply with public safety guidelines to avoid traffic accidents and to call its Operations Room’s emergency number 125 for immediate assistance when they need it.
Every New Year’s Eve, the Lebanese Civil Defense and the Lebanese Red Cross work even harder to ensure people’s safety and save lives.
Citizens are reminded to drive safely, drink wisely, take safety precautions, wear a mask, and avoid large indoor gatherings.
