The Lebanese-Canadian filmmaker Dania Bdeir is scoring more and more wins in international film festivals.
This time, the acclaimed director won the Jury Award for Best Short Film for her film Warsha at the Washington West Film Festival 2022.
Bdeir’s short film has so far won more than 30 international awards as it highlights migrants’ exploitation in Lebanon and the many social issues a Syrian worker has to go through while trying to hide his true identity.
Starring Mohammad Khansa, who recently won the Best Actor Award at the Elba Film Festival in Italy, the actor plays the role of a migrant worker who finds a haven on top of one of Beirut’s tallest cranes.
