The Lebanese Gynecologist Oncologist, David Atallah, has been awarded the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) Excellence in Teaching Award for his dedication to improving gynecologic cancer care.
This award recognizes the committed professionals who set a high standard in the teaching of women’s cancer care to inspire the future generation of clinicians and researchers.
Having more than 100 published articles and more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Atallah is a dedicated educator and mentor for medical students, residents, and fellows.
He founded Lebanon’s first gynecologic oncology service in a tertiary hospital and the first Lebanese Gynecologic Oncology Group to update the medical community with the newest guidelines and scientific studies.
He is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at USJ and the Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Hôtel-Dieu de France University Hospital, Beirut.
Dr. Atallah also helped in establishing the Middle East and Mediterranean Association of Gynecologic Oncologists’ (MEMAGO)
Most recently, he was elected as Council Member on the 2022-2024 IGCS Council, representing the Middle East and Africa.
“He has been a mentor for many generations of residents and has greatly impacted their surgical skills and knowledge in gynecologic oncology,” concluded IGCS.
