The 74th Golden Globe Awards took place a couple of nights ago in Los Angeles, California. This is usually the time when Hollywood’s biggest celebrities go all out and show themselves off.
Of course, nothing like getting Lebanese designers to help you show off!
This year, there were a total of 6 Lebanese designers that dressed a total of 11 celebrities at the Golden Globe Awards.
Some like Elie Saab are quite well known but others not so much. Here are the 6 Lebanese designers as well as the celebrities they dressed.
6 Lebanese Designers
#1 Zuhair Murad
Who is he?
He was born in 1971 in Baalbek, Lebanon and currently resides in Paris, France. He dressed 5 celebrities at the Golden Globes this year. At the age of ten, he started sketching dresses and was quoted as saying:
“I don’t recall a day in my life without a pen in my hand!”

Elsa Pataky – Known for her role in The Fast and the Furious movies
Tracee Ellis Ross – Known for roles on TV shows Girlfriends and Black-ish.
Sofia Vergara – Known for her role on ABC’s Modern Family.
Olivia Culpo – Miss Universe 2012
Lily Collins – Known for roles in The Blind Side, Mirror Mirror, City of Bones, and Love, Rosie.
#2 Reem Acra
Who is she?
Reem was born in Beirut and was a student at AUB. Her talent was first discovered by a fashion editor while attending a party. He immediately offered her a fashion show which successfully took place 10 days later.
She then went on to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and Paris’ École supérieure des arts et techniques de la mode (ESMOD).

#3 Elie Saab
Who is he?
I don’t think Elie Saab needs an introduction. He’s one of the most iconic fashion designers in the Middle East and very popular worldwide. His main workshop is in Lebanon but also has workshops in Milan, Italy, and Paris, France. He currently resides in Geneva, Switzerland.

Jessica Biel – best known for her role in Total Recall
#4 Georges Chakra
Who is he?
He’s a Beirut-based Lebanese Haute couture fashion designer. He has dressed celebrities like Rihanna, Beyonce, Tyra Banks, and Jennifer Lopez.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus – Best known for role in Seinfeld
#5 Rani Zakhem
Who is he?
Rani created a luxury collection for the fashion conscious woman. His style offers women a smart, sophisticated and fashionable look.
Who did he dress?
Giuliana Rancic – E! Host
#6 Krikor Jabotian
Who is he?
Krikor jumpstarted his career within the creative department at Elie Saab. He graduated from the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode (ESMOD).
At the age of 23, Krikor set up his first studio and designed his very first collection.

Regina King – Known for her role in American Crime.
