Lebanese Father & Daughter Confirmed Dead After Earthquake In Turkey

MP Mohamad Sleiman confirmed last night that a Lebanese father and daughter were killed in Turkey following the earthquake.

Wissam Al-Asaad and his daughter Nadwa from Akkar passed away.

In a Tweet, he said “May God have mercy on the martyrs of Wadi Khaled, Akkar, and Lebanon in the earthquake Turkey, Dr. Wissam Al-Asaad and his daughter Nadwa; our condolences are great for the loss of our youth in the diaspora.”  

“Oh God, we wish for peace and security for our country and our people in Lebanon and a speedy recovery for the injured in Syria and Turkey. May God have mercy on the martyrs and protect everyone,” he added.

On February 6th, 2023, two devastating earthquakes struck Turkey with magnitudes of 7.8 and 7.5. The earthquakes caused widespread damage in both Turkey and Syria, resulting in tens of thousands of fatalities and many injuries. The impact was felt across Lebanon, with shockwaves reaching as high as 5 magnitude and subsequent tremors.

On February 20th, 2023, another two earthquakes hit southern Turkey, with a magnitude of 6.4 and 5.8 just minutes apart.
