Three Lebanese-Australian Were Honored With The Order Of Australia Medal

For the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II’s 2022 Birthday, the Order Of Australia Medal honors list recognized 992 Australians.

The honoring are of four levels:

  • Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for the achievement of the highest degree in service to Australia or humanity.
  • Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for the service of the highest degree to Australia or humanity.
  • Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service in a locality, field, or a particular group.
  • The Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) is awarded for the services worthy of such recognition.

Among the honorees, three Lebanese-Australian were honored:

Marie Myssy

Marie Myssy, an SBS Radio pioneer, was honored with the Officer of the Order of Australia for her service to multicultural media.

Throughout a 39-year career in media, Myssy was led in updating the latest news in her Arabic mother tongue.

Antony Paul Hasham (AM)

Anthony (Tony) Paul Hasham was honored with the Officer of the Order of Australia in recognition for his achievements and services with multiple charities helping and supporting children and drug prevention education programs.

Mohamed Hage

Mohamed Hage

Mohamed Hage received a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to Arab-Australian trade relations.

Hage told SBS Arabic24 that he is proud of his Lebanese background and his services to different communities showing multiculturalism in Australia.
