A man impersonating a security officer conned a family into paying him $320,000 for Emirati citizenship.

He made them believe that he was a security officer, an escort of an important figure in the country, and had a close relationship with the ruling family in the UAE.

After investigation, the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) identified the perpetrator as M.D., a Lebanese national born in 1993.

As reported by the ISF, the suspect has a history of kidnapping, arms trade, extortion, theft, fraud, and impersonation. He was previously arrested in 2019 for the crime of kidnapping and was released in September 2021.

The ISF patrols lured him to the Hazmieh locality, ambushing and arresting him.

He was found with several I.D. cards in his possession, which he uses in his fraudulent operations.

He admitted to his crimes during interrogation and the legal requirement was carried out against him, on the basis of a judicial reference.
